Meet Dahna ;)

DAHNA is a New York City-based singer and songwriter blending jazz, pop, R&B, and groove into a fresh, upbeat sound. As the genre-blending alter ego of Dana Protsenko, DAHNA’s original music brings a new flavor of global pop, incorporating jazz, R&B, and the deep grooves laid down by her heavy-hitting NYC band. Her vibe can best be described as “sometimes moody, but always groovy,” creating music that’s catchy, and full of life.

DAHNA’s musical path began in Sacramento at American River College, where she earned a DownBeat award with the Advanced Vocal Jazz Ensemble. She immersed herself in the traditional jazz scene, performing with groups like The New Lowdown and singing with the classical choir Vox Musica. This mix of influences shaped her unique approach to music, which she refined further at Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, DAHNA explored world sounds and expanded her eclectic style, becoming part of Dashina, a vocal trio blending Eastern European singing with jazz, rock, and electronic music. She also had the chance to share the stage with renowned artists like Gary Burton, Tigran Hamasyan, and Vadim Neselovksy.

Over the years, DAHNA has performed in diverse settings, leading her own contemporary jazz quintet, joining groups like ALLBE, and collaborating with artists including Yacouba Sissoko. With a range of influences and a love for connecting through music, DAHNA’s work is a journey through sound—thoughtful, soulful, and full of groove.
